Macintosh Studio Access Rules
THE LAB AIDES HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO OVERSEE OUR POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AND TO DENY ACCESS TO ANY UNCOOPERATIVE USERS. ANY STUDENT WHO DOES NOT ADHERE TO THESE WRITTEN POLICIES WILL HAVE THEIR STUDIO ACCESS PRIVILEGES REVOKED.
Studio Aide Responsibilities
- Students must be currently enrolled in a Macintosh Digital Art and Design course taught in F216 to gain access to the studio. A previous enrollment in any credit or non-credit course does not qualify students to use the studio. The official enrollment lists are used to verify students’ enrollment in a qualifying course.
- Access hours for the semester are listed on the schedule outside F216. Access begins the second week of the semester and ends the last week of class. There is no access during final exam week, spring break, semester break, or on holidays and staff in-service/development days. If the student aide is not present, the studio will be closed and a notice posted on the door. Under special circumstances, faculty may grant extended hours for special projects.
- Students do not have the authority to alter the iMAC system’s set-up or preferences in any way; USB and Firewire access is available via cables to plug in portable drives.
- Students do not have the authority to use the iPads without an instructor present; these iPads are configured for interactivity with Creative Cloud.
- If you are found cheating, plagiarizing, or appropriating images without proper authorization from the server, you will be removed from the studio. Your teacher and the Digital Art/Design Coordinator will be issued official notification in order to take appropriate action.

Studio Aide Responsibilities
- Studio aides are responsible for assisting students with gaining access to software, printing, saving and shutting down the systems. They are not responsible for teaching or tutoring students.
- Studio aides will supervise the number of prints each digital art and design student produces during lab hours; students are allowed no more than a total of two color prints per completed digital art and design project. Do not use the printers for class projects in other courses or for off-campus work. The Epson printer may only be used during class time with instructor supervision.
- Users should always have their class notes and/or textbooks and should try to solve their software/assignment problems by referring to these materials or by seeking help from their instructors during class.
- Reference books, written materials, styli and the digital camera may be checked out with the studio aide for use during scheduled lab hours. They must be returned to the lab aide before the end of the session.
- Studio aides have the authority to have the studio opened during their scheduled hours and monitor the students. Any problems with the equipment or users will be duly noted by the aide each session and given to the studio supervisor and Mac technician.
